The Fun is In The Single Bed Frame
Kids really don’t care much about purchasing a mattress, all they want to know is if they can bounce on it, and if the single bed frame is cool or beautiful. Of course when purchasing a child’s bed it is important to follow the same rules that apply if you were shopping for an adult bed:
Research before you start shopping. There are many different types of single mattresses available that will fit your child’s single bed frame. Your child will be sleeping on the bed for the next few years. Keep that in mind and buy the best bed you can afford.
Pillow tops are great for adults, but your child might be to light, they require a certain amount of weight to activate the special compressed support system.
Always find out about money-back guarantees, comfort guarantees, warranties, and always ask for a test drive of your mattress. When visiting mattress stores, you should be allowed to lie down in the bed to try it out, for as long as you need to. Some companies will allow you to try the bed at home for 30 days, under certain conditions.
Single Bed Frames
A single bed frame is used to position the mattress so it is even and stable on the floor and for the occupant. Bed frames can be wood or metal, and they certainly come in many shapes and designs today.
Some of the most popular ones used today are the following:
The contemporary or classic single bed frame is made of either wood or metal. This frame often includes a headboard and foot board. It can be placed on the wall or in the center of the room, there are many options to add to this bed, most single bed frames come with matching accessories, such as dressers, bookshelves and toy boxes.
Poster beds use a standard size single-bed frame with four corner posts. Often girls love these types of bed, they can be converted into a beautiful princess canopy beds, which make their bedrooms gorgeous.
A trundle bed frame is a single bed that provides a smaller roll out or fold out mattress under the top bed. This second mattress is a wonderful space for a guest.
The bunk or loft bed is designed to take up the space of one individual bed, but provide sleeping space for two or an additional space under the bed for stuff. Bunk beds will usually sleep two children, while the loft is raised in the air, and the space below is used for dressers or a desk. Some loft beds are organized where they have two beds and the loft space as well. Loft beds are even available to sleep three kids.
A bookcase bed is a single bed frame that houses a single mattress. The headboard on this type of bed is more of a bookcase. It can be used to hold books or other types of storage. Often the bookcase bed has a foot board that also is a bookshelf.
A platform bed is usually made of wooden slats where the mattress lays. This is used instead of a box spring. While this is different than a normal single bed frame, it is nice because you can store things under the bed. Parents, if you are buying this for a young child, this may not tolerate bouncing. They could break the supports.
Captain’s Beds are wonderful for kids. They have wonderful support for the mattress, but allow underneath storage. Again like the platform bed there is no box spring, the mattress lays on a wooden surface under it. This bed frame also may not tolerate small children bouncing on the bed.
